Children’s Developmental Disabilities Agency
“If they can’t learn the way we teach, we teach the way they learn.” -Dr O. Ivar Lovaas.
Here in our Children’s Developmental Disabilities Agency (DDA) we provide home and community-based services for children including intervention and support services. The program emphasizes evidence-based treatment methods, community integration, and family empowerment. This evidence-based treatment method is structured around Applied Behavioral Analysis or ABA. Each plan is structured around the specific needs of each child. ABA is an considered evidence-based treatment by both the American Psychological Association and the U.S. Surgeon General.
Services include:
-Behavioral Intervention
Is a one-on-one intervention service that utilizes positive and meaningful changes in behavior that incorporates functional replacement behaviors while also addressing any identified skill needs. The interventionist also looks at issues that might be impacting or interfering with their independence abilities.
These services can be utilized in the home, community or agency.
-Habilitative Supports
Collaborative training and skills practicing learned through other therapies and in other therapeutic environments.
-Family Training Services
Limited one-on-one training with the family to help outline what the child will need from them while receiving ABA services. It must be provided with the child present and in accordance with the state approved plan of service.
